Belize tourism regains color

Prospects for the recovery of the tourism industry in the second smallest country in Central America are positive.

Belize welcomed 41,000 visitors who stayed on the island last March, the highest number since the start of the pandemic. Traditionally, the month of March is the strongest month in terms of tourist entries to Belize. The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) forecasts a positive outlook for the recovery of tourism this year, given the steady growth recorded in the first quarter of 2022. It continues to promote sustainable tourism development in collaboration with national businesses and international. Increase in cruise arrivals From January to April this year, 48 cruise ships carrying more than 93,000 passengers called at the two cruise ports of Belize City and Harvest Caye in the south of the country. Since last March, it is no longer necessary to obtain a negative test result for fully vaccinated travellers. Belize Travel Insurance is mandatory. The second largest barrier reef in the world is found off the coast of Belize, which is bordered to the north by Mexico and to the west by Guatemala. In the jungle areas, there are historic Mayan ruins and nature reserves, such as the only jaguar reserve in the world. The language of the approximately 370,000 inhabitants is English.
